A Little About the Noise

Cornbread Hot Sauce and Lightnin' Records is part music project, part notebook, and part junk drawer for things I couldn't quite leave alone.

I'm Matt Nicholson. I make music, write things, take pictures, and occasionally wander off into whatever detour catches my attention. These days I live on the sunny shores of Nashua, New Hampshire — affectionately known as the divorce relocation capital of Massachusetts.

Some of this music came out of late nights, lonely rooms, a guitar, too much beer, and the stubborn belief that tomorrow might finally be the day everything gets its act together.

Other things have come from quieter mornings, long walks, and discovering that sometimes the best parts of life are the ones you almost miss.

I've always been drawn to music with a little dirt and Greeze under its fingernails. Words that sound like somebody actually meant them. Beauty that shows up unexpectedly, often in places nobody thought to look.

There's room here for the funny, the sad, the sacred, the Saintly, the ridiculous, the ludicrous — and occasionally all of it in the same song.

You'll find music, poems, photographs, half-baked observations, and whatever other beautiful noise comes along.

No grand manifesto. No elaborate mission statement.

Just a place to make some noise in this life and see what sticks.
